Since the Waverlys arrived in Paris, the streets have grown more fearsome by the day. As Ingrid learns to master her lectrux gift, she must watch Axia's power grow strong enough to extend beyond her Underneath hive. By all indications, the fallen angel's Harvest is near—and the timing couldn't be worse.
Targeted by vengeful gargoyles, Gabby has been exiled to London for her own protection. Meanwhile, the gargoyle castes are in disarray, divided between those who want Luc to lead them and those who resent him and his fondness for humans. The Alliance is crumbling from the inside as well, its members turning against one another, and possibly against the Waverlys, too.
Axia has promisted that the world will burn. An now, unable to trust the Alliance, separated from Luc, Gabby, and her twin, Grayson, Ingrid is left to face the demon uprising alone.

This book concludes the trilogy that began with The Beautiful and the Cursed (2013) and continued with The Lovely and the Lost (2014).Once again, human-demon hybrids Ingrid and Gabby, daughters of an English earl (of course), battle the evil angel Axia. Axia wants to control all the demonic denizens of the Earth, create more and, apparently, rule the world. Naturally, all the principal characters are in love. Ingrid can't abandon her forbidden love, Luc, the gargoyle formerly assigned to protect her. Gabby loves Nolan, who has become a target of the Alliance, a secret organization formed to fight the demons. The girls' brother, Grayson, loves diminutive fighter Chelle. The real question here is not whether the heroes will win, but will they wind up with happy romantic endings? Despite the soapy premise (underscored by the made-for-daytime-TV title) and sometimes outrageously purple prose, Morgan focuses the book mostly on action, although she includes several steamy scenes for the three main characters. Most of the action takes place in Paris, and the author imparts a solid sense of its geography; Edwardian-era sartorial details also abound. Standard-issue paranormal romance with lots of descriptions of dresses. (Paranormal romance. 12-18)COPYRIGHT(2015) Kirkus Reviews, ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.

Gr 9 Up-The complex rivalries and alliances among humans, gargoyles, demons, angels, and fallen angels come to a complicated head in the final volume of the trilogy. Morgan amps up the woozy, gothic drama that drove The Beautiful and the Cursed (2013) and The Lovely and the Lost (2014) to a place just shy of sensory overload. The rising action may become a little muddy, but hand-to-your-heart romance is the real focus here. Tension between Ingrid and Luc, the gargoyle she can never be with (their attraction is forbidden by the heavens, in addition to being physically complicated), builds to an absolute frenzy. If readers tire of that, there are two more romantic subplots to keep them blushing. The heroines remain plucky, smart, and strong even as they swoon. VERDICT A satisfying, exciting wrap-up to an immersive paranormal series for those already invested in the saga.-Beth McIntyre, Madison Public Library, WI

This volume wraps up the Dispossessed trilogy that began with The Beautiful and the Cursed. A complicated paranormal romance set during the early twentieth century, the novel is rich in Parisian atmosphere and period details, as well as in the turgid accounts of forbidden love affairs; these romances, rather than the final showdowns between warring supernatural factions, will be what capture readers' affection.(Copyright 2015 by The Horn Book, Incorporated, Boston.
