THE BEAUTY of patina • In the middle of the quiet Finnish landscape, where the nights are pitch-black and the stars look almost frosted in the sky, you’ll find the home belonging to Malla Peltola and Hannu Laine. This house is from the 1920s. They bought it back in 2014, but they didn’t move in until spring 2016 following a big renovation project. Today, this place oozes of peace and history.
Golden late summer bouquets
Late summer by the Italian coast • In the Italian cuisine, the sea and the shore are combined in simple dishes where the ingredients are allowed to express themselves. This time, Rossella shows us some recipes inspired by fresh shellfish from the coast and the rustic dishes from the hinterland, and you’ll find anything from mussels and pork to creamy elements full of taste. Based on traditions and a good eye for new combinations, these dishes are a homage to the honest cuisine where a few good-quality ingredients and a love of cooking create depth and character. This kind of food tastes of Italy on a warm late summer day by the coast.
The heart of the forest – visiting Noohn Wild • Hidden between the trees in New Forest, England, where the forest opens up towards the sky and the pace is much slower, is Noohn Wild – a small café with a unique feel. Here you can experience peace, mindfulness and simple beauty.
A TIMELESS HOME SHAPED WITH RESPECT FOR ITS PAST • In the town of Laren in Holland, you’ll find this beautiful villa where history and everyday life are nicely combined. The home has been carefully renovated based on heartfelt respect for the original details, and now it oozes of warmth, personality and a peaceful, timeless atmosphere.

Dreaming of a simple life on the island of Ærø • When Karin moved to the Danish island of Ærø in 2022, it wasn’t a sudden decision but the culmination of a special kind of longing that she had been feeling for a long time. Slowly, she had begun to dream of a new beginning and a simpler life closer to nature and the sea. When Karin was a child, she already had a special bond with Denmark, and later, her wish to live in Denmark with her family grew even stronger. Ærø was the place for this dream to come true.
THE CREATIVE FLOWER FARM
Decorate with STALKS OF GRAIN • In late summer, you can find plenty of nice grains, roadside flowers, apples and many other things that you can use to decorate your home. You can prepare some nice and big bouquets with stalks of grain and place them in vases, and apples look very decorative in baskets and old pots. I’ve made a fine, decorative wreath using various stalks of grain and wild carrot.
Furnishing your home with THE COLOR BLUE • Our cooperation partner Fifi O’Neill has published a new and inspiring book: At Home with Blue. She invites us along as she visits 12 beautiful homes in which shades of blue are given pride of place and create peacefulness, harmony and a very special atmosphere. The book is a loving homage to the color blue and all its facets – from light and airy shades to deep and sensuous tones.
